Diets essays

Diets essays My diet is acceptable in the following Macronutrients: dairy group (3 servings), vegetable soup (3 servings), fruit group (4 servings), and starch/grain (7 servings). I take in over 100% RDA for vitamins and mineral (macronutrients) with my diet plus additional vitamin and mineral supplementation (Centrum), vitamin E and Echinachea. I take an average of 33.5g of dietary fiber calories is 112% RDA which is acceptable. According to the analysis of the 3 day food record it says that I consume too much fat (servings) and protein: (147g/ day) which is 253% the RDA. I know that I consume a tremendous amount of protein a day but my dietary goals from project I was to consume enough protein to gain lean body mass through diet and exercise (weights). The reason I consume so much protein is that protein contain amino acids necessary for muscle growth and repair. I am sure to drink plenty of water  ½ gallon a day to relieve stress on my kidneys and other organs from the excess protein. To get enough protein I must consume lots of meat products which can lead to health problems because of cholesterol and fat. In order to get enough protein I supplement with low-fat, high protein, and moderate carbohydrate shakes, flax seed oil caps, and fish oil capsules daily. Protein supplements keep my LDL's down and give me the protein I need in complete BCAA form while, the flax seed oil and fish oil raise my HDL's. I think my diet is adequate because I want to gain weight through a complete diet, weight training, and supplementation program. Also, a positive nitrogen balance is necessary in order to gain lean body mass. *All servings represent an average of 3 days. ...

Solving Common Typing Problems

Solving Common Typing Problems Theres nothing like typing away on a paper, only to find that youre not actually typing what you thought you were typing! There are several problems you can encounter with a keyboard that can drive you nuts, especially if youre on a deadline. Dont panic! The solution is probably painless. Some Letters Wont Type Sometimes a tiny piece of debris can get stuck under a few of your keys. If you find that a certain letter won’t type, you may be able to fix the problem by using a compressed air duster and gently blowing off your keys. Buttons Are Sticking Keyboards get very dirty sometimes, especially if you have a tendency to snack and type. You can clean a keyboard yourself (laptop or desktop), but it may be safer to have it cleaned by a professional. Numbers Wont Type There is a numbers lock button near your keypad that turns the pad on and off. If your numbers won’t type, you’ve probably pressed this button by mistake. Letters Are Typing Numbers It can be scary to type words and see nothing but numbers appearing! This is probably an easy fix, but the solution is  different for every type of laptop. The problem is you have numlock turned on, so you need to turn it off. This is sometimes done by pressing the FN key and the NUMLOCK key at the same time. Typing Over Letters If you are editing a document and are surprised to find that you are suddenly typing over words instead of inserting between words, you have accidentally pressed the Insert button. Just press it again. That key is an either/or function, so depressing it once causes it to insert text, and pressing it again causes it to replace text. Cursor Is Jumping This is one of the most frustrating problems of all, and it seems to be related to using a laptop with Vista or Windows XP. One possible solution is adjusting your touchpad settings. Secondly, you could disable tapping during input. To find this option with XP, go to: Control panelMouseAdvancedAdvanced feature settingsTapping and feature settingsTapping settingsDisable tapping If this doesn’t work, you can try installing Touchfreeze, a utility developed to disable your touchpad while you are typing text. Text Disappears Mysteriously If you accidentally highlight a block of text and type any letter, you replace all the selected when you type. This can happen in an instant, often without even noticing it. If you find that a lot of your text has disappeared, try hitting the undo function several times to see if your text reappears. If not, you can always hit redo to get back to where you started. Keyboard Keys Arent Functioning This isnt a common issue, but when it happens, either some or all keys stop working  or certain features of the keyboard such as backlighting may stop working. This can result from a low battery, so try plugging the computer in. It can also result in form liquid in the keyboard, causing the keys to short out.  Use compressed air between the keys and let the keyboard sit to dry for a while. Try using it again after it has dried  completely.

Horns of the Terrorist Dilemma Essay Example for Free

Horns of the Terrorist Dilemma Essay This paper approaches analysis by using the descriptive and historical sketch method of research. It will also analyze empirical data from textual sources towards its conclusion. The primary question of this study is: how the particular Arab country of Syria, contributes to the further instability and volatility of the socio-political condition of the Middle East. And the secondary question is: how does Syria use terrorism in formulating the country’s foreign and defense policy as it places particular emphasis on its relationship with Israel? The theory/theories which prove to be useful to the course of this paper come from the disciplines of Philosophy and International Relations. For the philosophical approach to the analysis of data, it is useful to examine the findings under the light of differentiating rationales by recognizing the particular categories of religious identity and secular identity. As for the approach that stems from the discourse composition of the body of International Relations, the secondary question is answered by finding a greater understanding behind whether Syria uses terrorism as a form of positive counterintelligence or as a negative form of counterintelligence, even if the United States (US), has in the past, already described Syria to be, â€Å" a state-sponsor of terrorism† –which is a clear indication that the defense tactics of Syria must be of a threatening nature and not otherwise. One cannot say that the data presented is not empirical data. Noriko Sato’s â€Å" On the Horns of the Terrorist Dilemma: Christian Syrians’ Response To Israeli ‘Terrorism’ † in the academic journal â€Å" History and Anthropology† has been clearly described to be a study which came from, â€Å"data collected during the 39 days of the Israeli siege of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem in 2002. † (142). Sato’s introduction presents that, â€Å" This article examines how the prevailing understanding of ‘terrorism’ and contemporary Israeli military operations against the Palestinians provides different religious groups in Syria with a common ground on which to base their claim to share in the national identity. † (141). Upfront, Sato’s data already answers the primary question of the paper which is made clearer by the table below.

Sustainable Development Essay example -- Environment Ecology Essays Pa

Sustainable Development Sustainable development was defined in the Bruntland Report in 1983 as â€Å"development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.† (Dresner, 31) This is a satisfactory definition for most people, however, when it comes down to the policies of sustainable development, the definition given proves dangerously vague. Interpretations that stem from it can range from ‘do not touch any of the earth’s natural resources ever again’ to ‘use them up as quickly as possible.’ There are three main philosophies behind sustainability: weak, strong, and environmental. Weak sustainability states that the total capital of the earth must not decrease. That means that the natural capital (oil, coal, forests, etc.) can decrease as long as the sum of physical (produced means of production; technology) and human (people’s physical ability to do work) capital increase at the same rate or higher. Thus, this approach assumes that most, if not all, natural capital can be substituted by technology. Strong sustainability differs from this in that it assumes that very little natural capital can be substituted. It deems human-made capital and natural capital separate entities, thus the natural capital must not decline. Economists have trouble with this idea because it seems like it is hindering the current generation in order for future generations to become vastly more wealthy assuming that the physical capital will increase with time. While they might furrow their brow at this theory, any self-respecting economist gets short of breath at the thought of environmental sustainability. This approach calls for natural resources to be left alone. It says... .... â€Å"Education is the catalyst for helping everyone understand the dynamic nature of the interrelationship† of ecology/environment, economy/employment, and equity/equality. (Edwards, 23) The environment is to be preserved as much as possible while still strengthening the economy and achieving the sense of community that goes along with controlling population and energy use with equity. Free States V Slave States Essay

There have always been events in American history that increased tensions between free states and slave states. In the following essay I will go over three events that has caused problems between one other. The Compromise of 1850, Uncle Toms Cabin, and John Brown’s Raid at Harper’s Ferry I have chosen these events because these are the events that stand out to me when tensions between free states and slave states come to mind. The Compromise of 1850 included four laws. California entered the union as a free state. A stricter Fugitive Slave Law requires that escaped slaves be returned. Slave trade prohibited in Washington D. C. Popular Sovereignty vote of the people living in the territory. Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe was the best selling book of the nineteenth century. This book caused many to oppose slavery. This showed Americans what slavery has done and this book opened up northern eyes against slavery. This caused the Southern to be outraged because now they have to deal with all the negative northern remarks. The last event is John Brown’s Raid at Harper’s Ferry. In 1859 John Brown led a small group against a federal arsenal. His plan was to seize the weapons and lead a slave uprising. Even though he was unsuccessful and was also executed he became a Northern hero. This incident increased the distrust that was already between the Southern and the North. In conclusion The Compromise of 1850, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, and John Brown’s Raid at Harper’s Ferry are events that rose tensions between free states and slave states. The compromise of 1850 pleased no one. It cause northern in civil disobedience against the Fugitive Slave Law by protesting and helping slaves to reach the safety of Canada. Uncles Tom’s cabin single handedly opened up peoples mind against slavery. This made people realize how horrible it is to take another mans freedom this caused problems for the slave states because now the free states wanted to get rid of slavery once and for all. John browns attack proved to the northerners anyone can make a difference if they believe slavery is wrong. This also increased Southern distrust of the North. These are the three events that stood out to me there are a lot more but these are the greatest disputes that effected North and South.

Unforgiven Film Well Deserving Of Best Picture Film Studies Essay

Every twelvemonth, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award one film the privilege of Best Picture. Many times, they give the award to a movie that many, in the general populace, have ne'er heard or one that many feel was a complete waste of clip. For case, last twelvemonth, the movie The Artist was given this award. This was a soundless movie that was two hours of complete ennui in black and white and one that used no address at all until the really terminal of the movie. However, this error was non made in 1992, when Unforgiven won Best Picture. This film was really much a â€Å" through-back † to many of the â€Å" Spaghetti Westerns † that old coevalss have enjoyed and one that brought an wholly new coevals into an grasp of Western movies. The film takes a dramatic bend at the terminal and is non really predictable. With a combination of unbelievable playing, expansive scenery, great costumes, a alone secret plan line, and a batch of gun-slinging, it is easy to see why Unforgiven won the Black Marias and heads of many, including the award of Best Picture. First, the movie does non focus on on an overly high budget the manner many movies do. The movie merely cost about 15 million dollars to shoot, which is relativity cheap. Many manufacturers will travel out and pass anyplace from 100 million to 200 million dollars hiting a movie. Those movies normally rely to a great extent on computer-generated particular effects to sell their merchandise. However, with a great book and a highly-talented dramatis personae, one does non necessitate to pass that sort of money to set together an award-winning production. A great secret plan line and unbelievable playing are what makes great movies and non the sum of money spent. It would besides be difficult to mess up a movie that has some of America ‘s most highly-acclaimed histrions in it. The movie does an unbelievable occupation in puting a â€Å" Wild West † tone. The chief town in the movie was Big Whiskey, Wyoming and looks really much like what one would comprehend the old West to look like. It is besides a clever and â€Å" catchy † name to give a town in the old West, seeing as how a batch of whisky was consumed at that place in those yearss. It had barrooms, shops, and assorted forte stores all along the chief retarding force of the town and all had the old vacillation doors that were common in the old West. The outskirts of the town are rugged terrains of comeuppances and mountains that are really common for the western U.S. The spectator truly gets a great image, although likely a somewhat overdone one, of life was like in the old West. Following, another great facet about this movie is that it is one where the secret plan line is non predictable. Many times, Westerns are really cliche and about comedic. They normally involve a â€Å" good cat † killing the â€Å" bad cats. † There is besides normally a batch of hiting with the sound of slugs bouncing of the sides of edifices. Many besides end with two work forces holding a gunfight on the chief retarding force of town. Many viewing audiences get a â€Å" seen one, seen them all † attitude towards Westerns. This, nevertheless, is non the instance in Unforgiven. The movie centres on a group of brigands that who go to a barroom, acquire rummy, and purchase cocottes. One of them becomes angry with one of the misss for express joying at him and slices her face up with a knife. The proprietor, so, puts out a premium on the work forces head ‘s who were responsible for the payment for what he called â€Å" damaged goods. † William Munny ( Clint Eastwood ) who is an old ex-bounty huntsman gets up with an old friend, Ned Logan ( Morgan Freeman ) to ship on what may be their really last premium Hunt. At first, Munny is â€Å" rusty. † He can non hit every bit directly as he used to. Both work forces, nevertheless, are in despairing demand of money, and more so than that, each one wants to hold one concluding Hunt and be able to retire for good from that line of work. However, the sheriff of the town, Little Bill ( Gene Hackman ) , a former gunman himself, does non take kindly to bounty huntsmans in his town. One premium huntsman, English Bob, comes to Big Whiskey seeking for the wages and is about beaten to decease by Little Bill and his deputies to put an illustration for what happens to bounty huntsmans in his legal power. In a blunt contrast to most Westerns, Munny is non a â€Å" good cat † at all. He is decidedly the sort of cat you would non desire to upset. Eastwood demonstrates this well in the faces of his face he makes throughout the movie. He really much corsets true to the â€Å" travel in front hood: do my twenty-four hours † attitude that he is known for. He, from his ain admittance, has â€Å" killed everything that has walked or crawled at one clip or another. † The Equus caballus he rides in a white Equus caballus. This is evidently a mention to the rider of the white Equus caballus in The Book of Rvelations who symbolizes decease. And Small Bill, although he is the sheriff, is far from a â€Å" good cat † either. Towards the terminal of the movie, Munny gets word that Ned went into town without him, had been captured, tortured, and killed. Angry and now merely seeking retaliation, Munny caputs to town non for money, but for requital for the decease of his friend. Outside a local barroom, Ned ‘s organic structure is displayed in a casket with a mark that reads, â€Å" This is what happens to bravos in Big Whiskey. † The spectator can truly see the hurting and disgust on Munny ‘s face. Outnumbered about 15 to one on a dark and showery dark with rain dripping off his chapeau, Munny enters the barroom and inquire who owns it. The proprietor raises his manus and shooting dead by Munny. Little Bill calls him â€Å" a cowardly SoB † for hiting an unarmed adult male. Munny explains that the adult male â€Å" should hold armed himself if he wants adorn his barroom with my friend. † After a brief gunfight, Munny tells the others, â€Å" any adult male that do n't desir e to acquire killed better clear on out the dorsum. † The movies ends with Munny standing over a changeable Little Bill and Bill stating, â€Å" I do n't merit to decease like this, † and Munny, before killing him, answers, â€Å" deserves got nil to make with it. † The spectator, so, hears a loud knock and Munny drinks a shooting of whisky and foliages. Finally, Unforgiven is possibly the greatest Western movie of all-time. The movie starts with work forces looking to roll up a premium and ends with Munny seeking retribution. Clint Eastwood, in his early 60s at the clip the movie was shot, is eventually able to sit off with what many say is his all-time best work. It is one of those movies that starts off slow and takes a piece for the spectator to acquire into. However, the flood tide at the terminal of the movie is good worth the delay. The last 10 proceedingss or so are considered by many to be one of the greatest scenes in film of all time. This is a movie that should be on everyone ‘s â€Å" to watch † list. This was merely the 3rd clip in the history of the Oscars for a Western, and besides the last movie of that genre to make so, to win Best Picture. The best facet of the movie is the fact that it is one that even a individual who wholly hates Western movies would wish if they would take the clip to watch it.

Chernobyl essays

Chernobyl essays Ben Parker also known as Spidermans uncle said, With great power comes great responsibility(Stanlee 12). When he said that sentence he was saying that when or if you acquire great power it requires great responsibility. Nuclear power is a force to be reckoned with and should not be taken for granted (Mendelev 122). The power of a radioactive material when harnessed is very uncontrollable at times and must be watched every second of every minute (Yaroshira 174). The responsibility of nuclear power is far greater than all others, may be even greater than that of a political siege (Yaroshira 48). Chernobyl, the nuclear power plant that melted down in Russia was an example of taking great power but not applying the responsibility to control it (Daltov 233). If the technicians at Chernobyl applied whatever knowledge they had about nuclear power to the incident, it might never have happened... no, it positively would not have happened (Hitlov 44). When Chernobyl blew, radio cesium was leaked everywhere; in the outer atmosphere as a gas, ground as a liquid-like crystal compound, and in the air as radioactive smoke (Hitlov 44). If all this radioactive content is spread equally around the earth, the earth would become a wasteland for many generations to come (Hitlov 319). Nothing grows for a few centuries, and that which does is mutated and poisoned (Hitlov 214). Whose fault was it truly for the meltdown in Russia, the plant itself or the operators? The cause of Chernobyls meltdown was truly the operators; they chose to disable the nuclear plants built-in safety systems as they performed tests on the system (Yaroshira 98-99). Activating one of the safety systems would have been enough to stop the chain reaction that occurred, but the operators disabled each one when it interfered with tests they were performing (Yaroshira 99). Through the operators ignorance or indifference, the catastrophe that was Chernobyl...

Facts on the Russo-Japanese War

Facts on the Russo-Japanese War The Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905 pitted expansionist Russia against up-and-coming Japan. Russia sought warm-water ports and control of Manchuria, while Japan opposed them. Japan emerged as a naval power and Admiral Togo Heihachiro achieved international fame. Russia lost two of its three naval fleets. Snapshot of the Russo-Japanese War: When: February 8, 1904, to September 5, 1905Where: The Yellow Sea, Manchuria, the Korean PeninsulaWho: The Russian Empire, ruled by Tsar Nicholas II, versus the Japanese Empire, ruled by the Meiji Emperor Total Troop Deployment: Russia - approx. 2,000,000Japan - 400,000 Who won the Russo-Japanese War? Amazingly, the Japanese Empire defeated the Russian Empire, thanks mostly to superior naval strength and tactics. It was a negotiated peace, rather than a complete or crushing victory, but hugely important for Japans rising status in the world. Total Deaths: In battle - Russian, approx. 38,000; Japanese, 58,257.From disease - Russian, 18,830; Japanese, 21,802. (Source: Patrick W. Kelley, Military Preventive Medicine: Mobilization and Deployment, 2004) Major Events and Turning Points: Battle of Port Arthur, Feb. 8 - 9, 1904: This opening battle was fought by Japanese Admiral Togo Heihachiro against Russian Vice Admiral  Oskar Victorovich Stark in a surprise night attack by the Japanese. While the battle was largely inconclusive, it resulted in a formal declaration of war between Russia and Japan on the day after the battle.Battle of Yalu River, April 30 - May 1, 1904Siege of Port Arthur, July 30 - January 2, 1905Battle of the Yellow Sea, August 10, 1904Battle of Sandepu, January 25 - 29, 1905Battle of Mukden, February 20 - March 10, 1905Battle of Tsushima, May 27 -28, 1905: Admiral Togo destroyed a fleet of Russian ships, ambushing them on their way through the Tsushima Strait on their way to Vladivostok. After this victory, Russias prestige was damaged and they sued for peace.Treaty of Portsmouth, September 5, 1905, formally ended the Russo-Japanese. Signed at Portsmouth, Maine, USA. Theodore Roosevelt earned the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating the treaty. Significance of the Russo-Japanese War The Russo-Japanese War held great international significance, as it was the first all-out war of the modern era in which a non-European power defeated one of Europes great powers. As a result, the Russian Empire and Tsar Nicholas II lost considerable prestige, along with two of their three naval fleets. Popular outrage in Russia at the outcome helped lead to the Russian Revolution of 1905, a wave of unrest that lasted more than two years but did not manage to topple the tsars government. For the Japanese Empire, of course, victory in the Russo-Japanese War cemented its place as an up-and-coming great power, particularly since it came on the heels of Japans victory in the First Sino-Japanese War of 1894-95. Nonetheless, public opinion in Japan was none too favorable. The Treaty of Portsmouth did not grant Japan either the territory or the monetary reparations that the Japanese people expected after their significant investment of energy and blood in the war.

Market feasasbility Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Market feasasbility - Research Paper Example Some of these services are specific to a purpose, such as marketing (Forward Marketing Group) and financing the business operations and employee programs (American Business Advisors). There are a few companies (Start-up Smart and Make-It-Fly) listed that are similar to our business plan, which is to help entrepreneurs gain access to resources and guide them through the process of starting their own company. By analyzing the business consultant market in Denver, I have discovered that there are certain needs that the entrepreneurs require which are not facilitated by the above mentioned companies. For instance, if an entrepreneur wishes to obtain a marketing plan he/she would have to search for a marketing consultant. Then he/she would have to search for a finance consultant. All this process can take precious time of the entrepreneur and therefore delay the process of starting up his own business. What the entrepreneurs need is one stop consultant who can be with them from the start till the business is established and that is the need that my business fulfills. Such consulting businesses can make a huge difference whether the entrepreneurs’ business will be getting off the ground or not. Besides the market need, there is also another reason for choosing Denver, Colorado. The entrepreneurial market in the city is growing at a tremendous rate and because all the existing consultants are focusing on certain aspects, the competition amongst the entrepreneurs would also require them to search for those consultants that offer one stop service to them. I feel confident that Denver, Colorado has room enough for another company based at the southern end of the city, where there is room to grow and develop the entrepreneur spirit. As there are so many ‘business consultants’ who specialize their services to encompass one aspect

Designing and managing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Designing and managing - Essay Example It is important for people to get a clear difference between learning organization and organizational learning. Peter Senge was behind the popular spreading of learning organization. The definition of learning organization is inclusive of various issues among them an ideal learning environment as well as a perfect tune with the goals of the organization. In such an organization, employees increasingly expand their abilities to get results desired by the organization (Hughes & Tight 2011, p. 21). In the institution, the environment allows generation of new ideas, expansion, and development of the same. It allows the collective aspirations to grow as people continue to learning wholesome. A learning Organization relies on the mastery of five measurements. First, systems thinking come out at the top of dimensions. The idea of handling an organization as a complex system constituting smaller systems also complex in nature defines the systems thinking. It requires comprehension of all components different from the manner in which a health physician understands the body of a human being (Edmondson 1999, p. 56). Important elements in this respect include recognition of complexity within an organization besides having long-term targets. According to Senge, organizations should apply system maps displaying the connections within the system (Finger 2009, p. 93). Personal mastery is the second dimension defined by Senge Peter. It entails a process where an employee puts in effort to facilitate focus and energy in addition to being in constant state of gaining knowledge (Cohen & Prusak 2001, p. 63). The other aspect is the mental model. Assumptions ingrained deeply together with generalisations, pictures, and images that determine the way people comprehend the environment defines the third dimension (Gadamer 2009, p. 74). It is necessary to take note of the same and recognize the challenges to give
